Today’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Wednesday, October 23
Mini Crossword
In case you missed Tuesday’s NYT Mini, you can find the answers here:
Today’s Mini actually took me six minutes in total, not because it’s that hard, but because I had to keep looking away to do other things. But it does pause when you tab out!
The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper's larger and long-rumgys, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.
Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives. The NYT Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can't quite figure out one or two clues and need to reveal the answer.
Spoilers ahead, obviously. Skip ahead for the image of today’s solved puzzle.
1) Spice that tastes like licorice - ANISE
6) Hot drink popular in the fall - CIDER
7) Bendy body parts - KNEES
8) Bird that, surprisingly, doesn't have any blue pigments in its feathers - JAY
9) Apple pie ___ mode - ALA
1) Cutesy cry of frustration - ACK
2) "Teenage Mutant ___ Turtles" - NINJA
3) Best possible - IDEAL
4) "Peace!" - SEEYA
5) Hospital areas in medical dramas, for short - ERS
NYT Mini
They do know that actual doctors still call them “ERs” right? Because they do. I did not know that Blue Jays do not have blue pigmentation and I am not quite sure how that science works. I had joints instead of knees for bendy body parts but that did not work. I have no idea what the spice Anise is and that is easily the hardest clue of the puzzle if you ask me. Did you know it? Tougher puzzle today if you ask me, but maybe you did better than I did and I’m guessing you certainly got it under six minutes, right?
