Albany County 'I Voted' Sticker: social media, voters and sticker designer react

Oct 18, 2024

Voters are familiar with the " I Voted" Stickers handed out at polling places as a way to show pride in completing their civic duty.

Communities across the country have turned the tradition into something more—seeking designs from students in the form of a competition.

Albany County's latest winner—getting some attention. Comments on social media pages like Twitter and Reddit—pointing out that the design may have some political slant to it.

The contest was started by the Albany County Legislators last year.

Student K-12 submitted designs to lawmakers and then the top 14 would be voted on by the community.

Tuesday night, the design was unveiled. CBS6 asked people around Albany what they thought of the design.

So CBS6 asked the winner, 17-year-old Tyler Pentak, if people might have a problem where he put the colors in his design.

Pentak also told CBS6 that his goal was to use the colors of the American flag, and his only underlying message is to get out and vote.
