A TikTokker has inadvertently discovered a hidden use for Woolies paper bags that goes far beyond just carrying your groceries home.

Whilst out shopping, TikTok user Shantelle Conway noticed that the Woolworths paper bags that usually just featured their logo were instead adorned with a festive Christmas pattern.

The mum revealed that once she got home she noticed there was a tiny scissors icon and a dotted line across the bottom of the bag. She then realised that the bags can double as eco-friendly gift wrap.

"I did my shopping at Woolworths the other day and I got their reusable paper bags," Conway says in the clip.

"And at the bottom, I could see a little scissors. So not only are they reusable for your shopping, but you can use them as wrapping paper."

Conway goes on to show her cutting up the bag and using the paper to gift wrap a cheese board.

"And I bought this really cute cheese board ... so I decided to chop one of the bags up and give it a go."

The TikTok mum then uses a piece of twine which gives the whole gift a rustic look.

TikTok users loved the idea. "Genius! Well done Woolies," one impressed viewer wrote.

"I actually love this idea they had! So good. It doesn't look bad either, I thought it would look super tacky," another user commented.

"You're so observant most wouldn't notice the scissor marks. The cheeseboard is awesome too!" a third added.

The bags are made from 70 per cent recycled paper and are a fun, eco-friendly and affordable way to wrap your presents this year.

James Hepworth, Woolworths Supermarkets Commercial Director for Everyday Needs, said: "We're really excited this year to have launched our Christmas themed paper bag. This paper bag is made from 70 per cent recycled material and can be easily recycled or reused for future shopping trips.

"But what's fantastic about this Christmas bag is that customers can cut along a line, open it up and use it to wrap Christmas presents at home, and recycle kerbside once the gift is unwrapped."
