This sticker gives Tennessee first responders crucial medical info at scene of crash
A yellow sticker pasted onto the cars of Tennessee drivers could be the difference between life or death.
It's part of the Yellow Dot Program, which gives first responders access to a victim's medical information at the scene of a crash.
That data includes emergency contacts, medical conditions, and current medications.
The stickers go on the back of cars or motorcycles, making them easy to find after an accident.
Now, Hamilton County is asking more people to sign up in an effort to save more lives.
When first responders arrive at the scene of an accident, they say every second counts...
Now, Hamilton County wants to use these yellow dots to help get critical information during critical incidents.
Here are the steps on how to use the Yellow Dot Program:
Captain Phillips says first responders need training to effectively use the program, which helps them quickly identify and address issues like invisible disabilities in patients who can't communicate.
Jackson Ballard says the program will be beneficial to everyone, but especially older adults and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
TDOT says information in the yellow dot folder is not kept by any agency.
It is only accessed by first responders in roadway accidents where medical attention is needed.
